USFL WEEK 9

Week 9 of the United States Football League kicksoff tomorrow from Birmingham, Alabama.

Action begins at 12pm CT from Protective Stadium on NBC as the New Jersey Generals (7-1) look to take on the Michigan Panthers (1-7). This game favors the Generals although the Panthers have looked good despite their horrendous record. They are able to move the ball, bit they are unfortunately unable to stop their opponent on defense.

The action continues at 5pm CT on USA Network when the Houston Gamblers(1-7) hope to knock off the undefeated Birmingham Stallions (8-0). Bham QB Alex McGough is out with an ankle injury, but Ja'Mar Smith has done well to show that he can be a starter. Bo Scarbrough looks to continue his ground dominance in hopes of another 100+ yard game.

Scooby Wright (Sharkdog) is questionable, but I imagine he will play. The Stallion defense has been excellent all season and that should likely remain the case.

On Sunday we get to The Xtra Point Game of the Week with the Tampa Bay Bandits (4-4) taking on the New Orleans Breakers (5-3). The losses for the Breakers coming from the Generals and the Stallions(×2). A Breakers win clinches a playoff berth to take on the Birmingham Stallions a 3rd time. This game is a MUST WIN for the Bandits. Kickoff at 3pm pmCT on Fox.

Action concludes with the Philadelphia Stars (5-3) taking on the Pittsburgh Maulers at 6:30pm on FS1.

Overall a decent week of football, but a bit lacking at the very end of the weekend. If not for the television slots I'd prefer seeing the Bandits-Breakera game swapped with Pitt.-Phil.
